Moses and Jesus (the Meaning of the Cross)

According to the Bible, Moses is a prophetical figure for Jesus. What happened in the time of Moses is a shadow of things to occur in the time of Jesus and in these last days. Today we will study the meaning of the cross through the work of Moses and that of Jesus.

Dt 18:17-18 I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers.
God said that He would raise up a prophet like Moses. This prophecy was fulfilled by Jesus Christ.
Ac 3:22-24 The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; … all the prophets from Samuel on, as many as have spoken, have foretold these days.
Ex 17:8-11 As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning.
When Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were delivered by God. Let's find out how this prophecy was accomplished.
Jn 12:32 I, When I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself.
When Jesus was lifted up from the earth, people were saved. We can see that Moses represents Jesus.
The idolatry of Israelites in the time of Moses is a copy of idolatry of the spiritual Israelites in the time of Jesus. Just as the natural Israelites worshipped a bronze snake, so the spiritual Israelites worship the cross today.
Nu 21:8 Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.
How were the Israelites saved when they spoke against God and were bitten to death by snakes? Was it because of a bronze snake or God's mighty word? What would have happened to those who looked at the bronze snake with no words from God? Do you think they could have been saved? (No) However, the Israelites, ignorant of God's word, had worshipped the bronze snake from then to king Hezekiah.
2 Ki 18:4-6 He [King Hezekiah] broke into pieces the bronze snake Moses had made, for up to that time the Israelites had been burning incense to it … he kept the commands the LORD had given Moses.
The Israelites had worshipped the bronze snake for about 1,000 years as a holy symbol of God's salvation. Actually what was it before God? (idol)
In the same way many contemporary Christians, ignorant of God's word, worship the cross. It is another kind of idol like the bronze snake.
Jn 3:14-15 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.
People could be saved only when they believe firmly in Jesus, not a cross. The Cross is a kind of execution tool used for crucifying Jesus. It is Jesus' precious blood that can save us, not a cross itself. Let's find out.
Jn 19:34 One of the soldiers pierced Jesus' side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.
Eph 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins.
1 Pe 1:18-19 You were redeemed … with the precious blood of Christ.

As the Israelites were saved by the almighty word of God, not by the bronze snake, we are redeemed with Jesus' precious blood, not the cross.
The Bible says if a man carves an image and sets it up in secret, he will be cursed. We must not worship the cross, because it's a wooden idol (Jer 10:1-; Dt 27:15). God bless you.

  1. The bronze snake was just bornze itself.
In the same way, a cross is just wood it self.
