The Sabbath of Moses and the Sabbath of Christ

The law of the Old Testament was fulfilled by Jesus. The Sabbath of Moses was also accomplished through the Sabbath of Jesus. Today we will study how people celebrate the Sabbath of Moses and the Sabbath of Christ. We will plainly see the difference between the two.
Mt 5:17 I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them [the Law or the Prophets].
Heb 7:12 For when there is a change of the priesthood, there must also be a change of the law.
As Jesus said through these two verses, the law of Moses was fulfilled and changed into the law of Christ.

First, let's study how the Sabbath of Moses was kept. Then we will study how it was fulfilled and changed by Jesus.
In the time of Moses, people must not do any work on the Sabbath day. They were put to death when they did any work on the Sabbath day.
Ex 31:15 Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day must be put to death.
Nu 15:32 A man gathering wood on the Sabbath day was stoned to death.
On the contrary, priests did work on the sabbath day by sacrificing animals to God. They were not put to death. This is the prominent difference between people and priests in keeping the Sabbath day.
Nu 28:9 On the Sabbath day, make an offering of two lambs.
Lev 24:5-8 Take fine flour and bake twelve loaves of bread … Set them in two rows.
There were two different ways they celebrated the Sabbath of Moses. Ordinary people were not allowed to do any work on the Sabbath day while priests must work to worship God on the Sabbath.
2,000 years ago, the Sabbath of Moses was fulfilled and changed into the Sabbath of Christ. Let's find out how the Sabbath of Christ was celebrated.
1 Pe 2:9 You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood.
In the time of Jesus, once people were baptized into Jesus, they were blessed and became the priests of the gospel. They kept the Sabbath in the newly different way. They worshipped God in spirit and truth, no longer sacrificing animals on the Sabbath day.
Jn 4:23-24 The true worshipers worship God in spirit and in truth.
Let's find out how Jesus celebrated the Sabbath day.
Lk 4:16 On the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. And he stood up to read.
Jesus came and showed us an example that we should keep the Sabbath in spirit and truth. We should follow His example until the last day.

Today Satan is deceiving God's people into believing that the Sabbath is insignificant and merely a part of the law of Moses. We should be careful not to fall into his trap. Jesus showed us an example of keeping the Sabbath of Christ. Therefore, we must celebrate the Sabbath day and also lead God’s people to keep it. God bless you.
